Day of Mourning
April 28 is the National Day of Mourning—a day dedicated to honouring workers who lost their lives due to work-related illnesses or injuries. Every loss has a profound impact on families, friends, employers, co-workers and communities.
The loss of one, felt by many—a tribute to Peter
Peter, 46, was a loyal and generous son, brother, uncle and friend. He often surprised his family with thoughtful gestures and gave unwavering support to those he loved. With a strong sense of adventure and a steadfast commitment to the people who mattered most to him, Peter lived life with enthusiasm and passion.
Sadly, in August 2024, while working on a customer’s gutters, Peter fell from a ladder and hit his head. He never regained consciousness and passed away the next day. What began as an ordinary summer day ended in heartbreak for Peter’s loved ones.
“He was a caring, thoughtful friend who you could enjoy time with,” recalls Mike, one of Peter’s friends since childhood. Mike adds that Peter would have wanted people to remember to laugh and treasure time with those they love.
Peter’s family and friends agree his zest for life, sense of humour and ability to be present were qualities that made him so special. Watch their heartfelt tribute video celebrating his memory and reflecting on the profound impact he had in their lives.
Driving Innovation With Responsibility
At Conifer, we understand the challenge of balancing energy production with sustainability. That’s why we’re developing projects that use innovative CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) to reduce emissions, sequester carbon, and create lasting value for Alberta’s industries and communities. Together, we’re driving measurable progress toward a cleaner future.
Our Operations
Conifer operates six legacy oil pools in Alberta’s Swan Hills and Redwater areas, leveraging CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) to inject up to 10,000 tonnes of CO2 daily. Our operations reduce emissions, sequester carbon, and support energy development while advancing sustainability.
